The Philippine Eagle, our national bird, is in serious danger. The Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) warns that the remaining forests of the country can only support an average of 392 breeding pairs. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has declared it “critically endangered,” with deforestation and human persecution through shooting and trapping pushing it closer to extinction every year. Without urgent action, we risk losing our national symbol forever.
